Ese libro nos presenta, apoyado en fuentes inglesas, a los diversos protagonistas britanicos en la Nueva Espana durante el primer siglo de colonizacion. Fuente fundamental de este analisis fueron las cronicas del geografo ingles Richard Hakluyt, quien durante el periodo isabelino recogio y difundio gran cantidad de testimonios viajeros, particularmente ingleses, fomentando las empresas de exploracion ultramarina sobre tierras remotas, desconocidas y extranas, como aquellas de la Nueva Espana.
