En América Latina hemos importado gran parte del vocabulario disciplinar de la historia sin ponerlo suficientemente en tensión respecto de nuestras propias realidades y desarrollos históricos. En tal sentido, este diccionario no pretende, en ningún caso, entregar definiciones canónicas y definitivas, sino más bien problematizar conceptos y dejarlos abiertos a la comunidad académica y a todos quienes se interesen en las palabras y en la evolución de sus significados.
