This book analyzes the theoretical aspects of specific humoristic techniques in Gabriel Garcia Marquez. These techniques employ ranges from the use of explicit jokes, hyperbole or textual and cultural carnival, and literary resources such as irony, parody and ambiguity.

Candela always passes in front of a house covered with vines on her way home from school. The old mansion has been abandoned for so long that it must be concealing some sort of mystery.
