Esta obra pretende acercar al lector a la sociedad gallega de la Alta Edad Media, combinando la rigurosidad científica con un lenguaje claro y accesible a todo tipo de público. Para ello, cada uno de sus capítulos tiene como protagonista aun personaje histórico real, siguiendo un orden cronológico, que sirve como elemento introductorio a los diversos temas que aborda el libro.
