Este libro busca comprender el desempeño de la agricultura chilena entre 1910 y 1960, particularmente las deficiencias del sector desde los años treinta, así como las políticas agrarias estatales, considerando la geografía de la producción agropecuaria, esto es, que los rubros principales de ella se trasladan del centro al sur del país. Así, desde la perspectiva del sur de Chile, se busca establecer una imagen de las dificultades que experimentó el agro nacional en estos años.
