The lazy rooster and the mischievous mouse can't be bothered to help the Little Red Hen tend her ear of wheat. They can't be bothered to help her take it to the miller either, or bake it into bread. This lively version of the classic tale is given contemporary treatment with dynamic, textured illustrations which consist of collage hung wires and then photographed by artist Kate Slater.

La narración corta tiene una larga tradición en la literatura en castellano, aunque será en el siglo XIX cuando adquirirá entidad propia como género. Se establece también que su principal diferencia con la novela, aparte de la extensión, es que sus características quedan supeditadas al argumento. Los grandes autores del momento (Galdós, Pardo-Bazán, Valle-Inclán...) cultivaron el cuento en sus más variadas temáticas y estilos. En este volumen ofrecemos una buena muestra de ellos.
