Alberto Nin Frías (1878-1937) fue un escritor, profesor, diplomático y periodista uruguayo bisnieto del rico marino mercante español Antonio Nin y Soler. Debido a su trabajo, residió en distintas ciudades como Washington, Río de Janeiro o Santiago de Chile. Son célebres sus pioneros ensayos en defensa de la homosexualidad.
